Azerbaijani judokas successfully performed on the first day of the European Junior Cup, held in Samorin, Slovakia, AzVision.az reports with reference to the Azerbaijan Judo Federation.
On the first day of the tournament, members of the national team won 2 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.
In the 50 kg weight category, Ibrahim Talibov won silver medal, and Anar Guliyev won bronze medal.
In the final of the weight category up to 55 kg, two judokas of the national team of Azerbaijan - Muhammadali Khusiyev and Rasul Alizade - met with each other. Khusiyev won the gold medal, and Alizade - the silver.
Zeid Aleskerov, who competed in the 60 kg category, defeated all his rivals and rose to the top step of the podium. In the same weight category, Ilkin Garayev finished the tournament in 7th place.
In the 66 kg category, Ali Gumbatov won the bronze medal, and Ozgan Guliyev took fifth place.
